A man is dead after a shooting in Mississauga, Peel police say.

Police were first called to the scene, in the parking lot of a roller rink in the area of Royal Windsor Drive and Southdown Road, shortly after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

They found the victim with very serious injuries. He was eventually pronounced dead at the scene, according to Const. Donna Carlson. 

No further information about the man was available late Wednesday. 

Peel police’s homicide unit has taken over the investigation. 

Carlson said they were many people inside the roller rink and in the parking lot when police arrived.

“This is a very populated area, and we are reaching out to anybody in the area who may have heard or seen anything or witnessed anything to come forward and contact our investigators,” she said.

There was no available suspect description when Carlson spoke to media shortly after midnight.
